On Friday, Karnataka Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed all departments connected to Bengaluru to improve coordination and jointly plan infrastructure works to minimize public inconvenience. As the Greater Bengaluru development minister, Gowda aims to execute projects efficiently without disrupting public life. A common digital dashboard will be developed to map roads, utilities, and civic works, enabling coordinated planning, transparency, and citizen reporting.
Gowda convened the second meeting of the Greater Bengaluru Authority executive committee, bringing together heads of major civic and infrastructure agencies. The committee was created to address Bengaluru’s governance challenges, particularly the lack of coordination among civic agencies responsible for roads, water supply, electricity, public transport, and urban infrastructure. Gowda stated that Bengaluru has suffered for decades due to independent departmental work, resulting in duplicated efforts, repeated road cutting, and avoidable expenditure.
The executive committee comprises senior officials from key agencies, including city corporations, BWSSB, BESCOM, BMTC, BMRCL, BDA, K-RIDE, Traffic Police, and Fire and Emergency Services. A unified GIS-based digital platform will be developed to integrate information on roads, utilities, and infrastructure works across departments. Citizens will be able to report civic issues and monitor progress, improving transparency and accountability.
