On Wednesday, June 2, at Udupi railway station, railway staff and police successfully rescued five minor boys who had run away from home. The boys, who were traveling without tickets on the Matsyagandha Express train from Mumbai to Mangalore, were found by TTE Savita Shetty between Barakur and Udupi stations. Shetty immediately alerted the Railway Police Force control room, and as the train arrived at Udupi station, Railway Constable Muralidharan took the boys into custody for counseling and questioning. The railway police officials discovered that the boys had run away from home due to family issues and provided them with breakfast and drinks. Since the boys were minors, they were handed over to child protection authorities for further proceedings. The children, who are from Bangalore, were temporarily kept in a boys’ orphanage for their safety, and their parents were informed. The parents later appeared before the Child Welfare Committee on Thursday, submitted the necessary documents, and were reunited with their children.
