On June 2, a delegation from the Catholic Sabha Udupi and Mangalore regions met Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in Bengaluru, congratulating him on his appointment and submitting a request. The Catholic Sabha Mangalore and Udupi region urged the Chief Minister to consider Ivan D’Souza, a Member of the Legislative Council, for a ministerial post, citing his extensive experience and contributions to the Christian community. As a two-time member of the Legislative Council and former Chief Whip, Ivan D’Souza has held various key roles in the Christian Development Corporation. The delegation highlighted the significant contribution of the Christian community to the Congress party’s victory, particularly in 22 districts across the state. They emphasized that despite this support, the community is often overlooked for high positions, and appealed to the Chief Minister to provide equal opportunities to all communities. The delegation, comprising representatives from both regions, included Santosh D’Souza, Steven Rodrigues, Sunil Monis, Stany Lobo, Melvin Aranha Shirva, Shaila Almeida, Anthony Miranda, Kiran Lewis, and Vinod Crasto, among others. They sought justice for the Christian community through Ivan D’Souza’s appointment as a Minister or Speaker of the Legislative Council.
