On June 28, a car and a tanker lorry collided on the Mangalore-Bangalore National Highway 75 near Gundya, injuring five people. The incident occurred in the afternoon at Barchinahalla, as the car was traveling from Nelyadi to Sakaleshpur. The injured passengers, Sanjay, 34, Lalitha, 45, Monappa, 56, Prema, 34, and Suresh, 39, were admitted to Nelyadi Ashwini Hospital for treatment. The collision happened when the tanker, heading towards Nelyadi from Sakaleshpur, crashed into the car. The accident led to a traffic jam in Gundya, which was already experiencing heavy traffic due to pilgrims visiting the Subrahmanya and Dharmasthala temples during the holiday season. Police from the Nelyadi outpost were deployed to manage the traffic and ensure smooth movement of vehicles.
