On June 28, MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty participated in the polio vaccination program at Hiriadka Primary Health Center in Udupi district, where children were vaccinated as part of the National Pulse Polio program. Meanwhile, Riyaz Palli, former Vice President of Udyavara Gram Panchayat, inaugurated the Pulse Polio program at Udyavara Melpete Anganwadi. Philomina Rebello, Supervisor of the Department of Women and Child Development, and several locals were present on this occasion.

Similar programs were held at Shirva Community Health Center and Pamboor Padubelle Health Sub-center, where Dr. Gayathri Santhosh, Dental Medical Officer, and designated Rotary Zonal Commander Vishnumurthy Saralaya inaugurated the vaccination programs, respectively. The events were attended by various officials, including Rotary members, health officers, and Anganwadi workers.

The Pulse Polio program was conducted across Udupi district on Sunday, resulting in 96.1% achievement, with 62,835 children vaccinated out of a total of 65,401 children aged 0-5 years. The rural areas achieved 97.7% vaccination, while urban areas achieved 89.9%. According to a press release from the District Health and Family Welfare Department, a total of 33,194 children were vaccinated, with the program aiming to eradicate polio from the region.
