Panchavarna marks 306th eco-friendly Sunday with sapling distribution in Kota
KOTA: A former Udupi GP member has praised Panchavarna organisation for its sustained environmental efforts. Raghavendra Kanchan Barikere, former member of Udupi Gram Panchayat, spoke at a programme held at Kotattu Barikere on Sunday. He said the environmental work undertaken by Panchavarna since its inception is a significant achievement.
The event marked the 306th Sunday Eco-Friendly Green Step, organised by Panchvarna Mahila Mandal — promoted by Panchvarna Yuvaka Mandal of Kota — in collaboration with Geetananda Foundation Manuru and Annapurna Nursery Petri. Saplings were handed over to Panchvarna Sangh members Vasanthi and Akshatha on their birthdays.
Kanchan noted that an organisation's continuous activity reflects its dynamism. He added that Panchavarna's innovative, nature-focused programmes have gained popular recognition. At the start of the programme, various plant species were planted in several local homes, and awareness was created about them. The organisation dedicated this week's campaign to Vasanthi and Akshatha on their birthdays.
Ajit Achar, immediate past president of the association, administered an environmental awareness pledge to the youth. Several local leaders attended, including Satish Kunder, former president of Kotattatu Panchayat; Ravi Kunder, president of Barikere Youth Mandal; Shevadhi Suresh Ganiga, founder president of Panchavarna; president Manohar Pujari; Mahila Mandal secretary Vasanthi Handattu; and member Aksatha. Panchavarna member Prabhakar Manur welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks. Kalavati Ashok, president of Mahila Mandal, presented the programme and expressed gratitude. Ravindra Kota coordinated the event. Manur Friends, Handattu Women's Club and Friends' Club extended cooperation.
