Surathkal will host a three‑day plant festival from September 25 to 27 at the Bantara Bhavana, organized jointly by Raitha Kudal Pratishthana, Lions Club Surathkal and the Surathkal Bantara Sangha. The event, announced at a press conference in Mangalore Press Club on Tuesday, will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Festival organisers aim to support urban agriculture by showcasing a range of equipment, demonstrating their use and informing farmers about availability. Nursery operators, horticulture enthusiasts and plant specialists will sell a variety of fruit, flower and vegetable plants, alongside organic manure and vegetable seeds.
In addition to horticultural items, the venue will feature approximately 40 stalls offering home‑industry products, food items, soil pots and handcrafted goods. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on September 25, with Member of Legislative Assembly Dr. W. Bharat Shetty presiding over the inauguration.
Bal Jagannath Shetty, president of the Surathkal Bantara Sangha, will chair the proceedings, while Chief Secretary of the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Department Inayat Ali is slated to attend as the chief guest. The press briefing also saw the presence of B
