Speaking further, Ponting said, “I am on record saying that I think Ruturaj Gaikwad is a player similar to Jaiswal. I think he can be a really serious Test match player or player across all formats in the next few years. The one for whom I feel a little sorry is Sarfaraz Khan. The truth is that he is yet to find a place in the Test team. He averages around 80, but I think that is absolutely unheard of in first-class cricket. For some reason or the other, they keep choosing other people before him.”
