On Teachers' Day, retired Bantwal S.V.S. Degree College professor K.P. Soofi was honoured at his residence as part of the fourth edition of the Honoring Senior Retired Teachers Series organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Samanvaya Teachers' Association.
The gathering presented Soofi with a traditional shawl and a commemorative memento, marking his long service to education in the region.
Abdul Razak Ananthadi, lecturer at Puttur Government Pre‑University College, opened the ceremony with a speech that traced the different phases of Soofi’s academic career, highlighting his contributions to curriculum development and student mentorship.
Immediate past district president Abdul Majeed S. and former president Sameevulla Vagga followed with congratulatory remarks, each underscoring the lasting impact of Soofi’s work on successive generations of teachers.
During a brief address, Prof. Soofi reflected on his years of service, expressed gratitude to colleagues and family, and affirmed his belief in the value of continuous learning.
District Vice President Manazir Mudipu conducted a short interview, allowing Soofi to share personal anecdotes and his perspective on the evolving educational landscape.
Attendees included District Secretary Mohammed Shahid, Treasurer Mohammed Iqbal U., Bantwal Taluk Unit President Haris Bambila, members Hameed Mani and Asma Gadiyara, as well as several of Soofi’s family members.
District President Akbar Ali welcomed the guests, outlining the growth of Samanvaya Teachers' Association and its role in supporting veteran educators across the district.
Concluding the event, former District President and District Scout and Guides Commissioner Haji B.M. Thumbe delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective effort that made the tribute possible.
