Mangaluru Central station  growth hindered by dependence on three rail divisions, MP informs Minister.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has requested Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to instruct his ministry to carry out a thorough development of Mangaluru Central railway station, which has remained undeveloped for many years.

Demand to upgrade the Mangaluru Central station

On August 3rd, in New Delhi, the MP presented Mr. Vaishnaw with a set of requests on behalf of his constituents. He expressed concern that the Mangaluru Central station, which is over a century old, is unable to accommodate the growing number of passengers in the city. Given that Mangaluru is a hub for various industries such as commerce, education, healthcare, and tourism, it attracts thousands of individuals on a daily basis. Therefore, the MP urged the Minister to consider upgrading the Mangaluru Central station to meet international standards.

The Member of Parliament stated that there is congestion in the city center, specifically between Hampanakatte and Mangaladevi temple, extending towards Kerala. This congestion is caused by the regular movement of trains to the Bunder Yard, particularly at the Pandeshwara level crossing. The MP requested the construction of a four-lane road-over-bridge at this level crossing.
