Kochi: A woman passenger at Kochi airport claimed to have a bomb in her bag, was upset over the delay in check-in to Mumbai.

 

Kochi: A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight was delayed by an hour on Tuesday after a woman passenger at the Kochi airport falsely reported a bomb in her bag, an official said. The police took the woman into custody. Airport sources said the woman falsely reported that a bomb was placed in her bag after she was upset over the time taken for check-in at the Cochin International Airport. The 37-year-old woman was handed over to the police.

The police have registered a case against him. According to airport sources, the Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight was delayed by over an hour due to false information about the presence of a bomb as baggage and security checks were carried out in a more thorough manner. The woman also had to travel on the same plane. Nedumbassery police said the woman was booked under Section 118(B) of the Kerala Police Act and subsequently released from custody.

“she was not arrested. The incident took place during the check-in process for the Kochi-Mumbai flight, sources said. The Mumbai-bound flight was scheduled to take off at around 6 am. Upset over the delay in check-in, the woman said there was a bomb in her bag, which expedited the baggage checking process and led to a delay of about an hour in the flight, he said.

This is the second such incident at the airport in less than a week.On July 28, a 55-year-old passenger, while waiting for the security process to board the flight, had allegedly claimed that another passenger had a bomb in his bag. The airport authorities, after conducting an inquiry, had found that his claim was false and had been handed over to the Kerala Police. He was arrested by the police and later released.
