First Grand Slam Champion: Beating Novak a Dream come True: Alcaraz

London. New Sensational tennis player 20-year-old Alcaraz After winning his maiden Wimbledon title,  revealed that ever since he started playing tennis, he dreamed of defeating Novak Djokovic and winning the Wimbledon championship.

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic had not lost a match on Center Court since 2013, but Alcaraz prevailed 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in a five-set thriller. The win ended the dominance of the Serbian player on the grass-court.

“The history I made today is the happiest moment of my life. I think that won’t change for a long time,” Alcaraz said at the post-match press conference. It’s been my dream since I started playing tennis. That’s why this is the biggest moment of my life.”

He said, “To beat Novak at his peak, to make history, to be the player to beat someone who was unbeaten on that court for 10 years, is amazing to me. It’s something I’ll never forget.”

Alcaraz further said that he hoped his victory would inspire the next generation.

“It’s great for the new generation as well, I think I can make them think they can do it too. It’s great for me and I think for the younger players as well,” he added. ”

Alcaraz became the fifth player in the Open Era

he became Alcaraz became the fifth player in the Open Era (since 1968) to win multiple major titles before the age of 21. Alcaraz said, “I’m very different from Roland Garros. I’ve grown a lot since that moment. I learned a lot from that moment. As I said before the final, I took a lesson from that match. I did something different before the match. I did something different mentally before the match. I could handle the pressure better than Roland Garros.”

“Obviously the grass court is different from clay. I didn’t give up, I fought till the last ball. I think every ball we made great rallies, made great scores. It was a long match. I think it is very important to have mental balance in such a long match.”

 Alcaraz’s  First Victory

However, Sunday’s win was Alcaraz’s first major victory against 23-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic, and he feels it is a result that will give him confidence in the future.

Alcaraz said, “Before this match, I thought that I could not beat Novak. But after this match I think differently about Novak like maybe in other tournaments, in other Grand Slams, I remember this moment. Will keep.”

Djokovic’s title match against Alcaraz was a spectacular performance, with the champion taking the No. 1 ATP ranking with the trophy.
