Mangaluru: The Democratic Youth Federation of India's (DYFI) Bengre 60th Ward unit formally petitioned the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner on Tuesday, demanding immediate concreting of a crucial 300-meter stretch of the main road in Kasaba Bengre. The appeal highlights the severely damaged condition of the road, which poses significant risks and inconvenience to local residents and motorists.
The petition specifically targets the approximately 300-meter section of road extending from Karavali Store to near Saleem Angadi. This part of the main thoroughfare is plagued by numerous potholes, which exacerbate during the monsoon season, leading to considerable water accumulation and traffic disruptions. The DYFI unit emphasized the urgent need for a permanent solution to prevent further accidents and ease daily commutes.
While road construction has already been completed on the main road from Thota Bengre to Karavali Store under the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikas Yojana, the adjacent section remains neglected. The federation urged the corporation to prioritize the pending work, ensuring the entire stretch benefits from proper infrastructure. Additionally, they requested temporary repairs, such as filling existing potholes, until the full concreting project can commence.
The DYFI also drew attention to incomplete work related to the Jalashiri scheme's drainage project. In areas where the concrete road is already in place, the task of leaving adequate space on the roadside and filling it with soil for the drainage system remains unfinished. The organization called for the swift completion of this essential drainage work to prevent future waterlogging issues.
Prominent members of the DYFI Bengre Village Committee were present during the submission, including President Rizwan Bengre, Secretary Jamsheer Bengre, and Treasurer Muhaz Bengre. Leaders Haneef Bengre, Taiyub Bengre, Nasir, and Fayaz Bengre also joined the delegation, underscoring the community's collective concern over the deteriorating road conditions.
