Mangaluru, Sep 19 – Representatives of the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (Swabhimani Prof. B. Krishnappa Faction) D.K. District Committee gathered on Tuesday to lodge a formal plea with Revenue Minister G. Parameshwara and District In‑charge Minister U.T. Khader, urging a cabinet decision on the long‑standing D.C. Manna land issue that affects Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the district.
The allocation of D.C. Manna land has been a persistent demand of Dalit and tribal communities across Dakshina Kannada. Over the years, activists have argued that legal obstacles prevent rightful distribution of the parcel, which they claim is essential for socio‑economic upliftment.
Despite expectations that the cabinet meeting scheduled in Mangaluru would address the matter, the committee reports that no resolution was presented. The absence of a decision, they say, signals an anti‑Dalit attitude on the part of the state administration.
District Convener Sadashiva Padubidri, accompanied by Organising Conveners Raghu Ekkaru, Krishnananda D. and Women Convener Sarojini Bantwal, issued a strong condemnation of the perceived bias. The Samiti warned that protests targeting Minister Khader and other officials are imminent, describing the silence as a betrayal of Dalit aspirations.
In addition, the group appealed to leaders of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe wings of the Congress party, urging them to repudiate the government’s stance by resigning from party posts. The call aims to pressure the party to stand with Dalit constituents and uphold their dignity.
