Cyclone Biparjoy hits Gujarat coast, heavy rain continues with strong wind speed of 130 KMPH
Due to Cyclone Biparjoy, it is raining heavily in many parts of Gujarat.

Cyclone Biparjoy has hit the Gujarat coast. Strong wind is blowing at the speed of 130 KMPH on the coast. Every possible effort is being made by the Government of India to prevent the damage caused by the storm. All agencies including Indian Army, NDRF have been deployed. The ministers of the central government are monitoring the situation themselves. Home Minister Amit Shah has canceled his Telangana tour.

- Cyclone Biparjoy has hit the Gujarat coast. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), it will cross Pakistani coasts between Mandvi and Karachi near Saurashtra Kutch and Jakhau port. It has been claimed by the Meteorological Department that the process of landfall will last for 4 hours.
- IMD Director General Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra has said that at present it is running at a speed of 115-125 kmph. Landfall has started in Kutch, Saurashtra. It is raining heavily in Saurashtra, Kutch, there is a possibility of more heavy rains. Landfall will continue till midnight.
- People have been alerted by the Meteorological Department. IMD has instructed people to avoid heavy rain and wind. There is a possibility of flood like situation in some parts.
- Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today chaired a meeting at the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar to review preparedness to deal with the cyclone. The government has said that so far around one lakh people have been taken to temporary shelters in the eight coastal districts of Kutch, Jamnagar, Morbi, Rajkot, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar and Gir Somnath.
- Apart from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army, Air Force, Navy and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have geared up for relief and rescue work. The Army has deployed 27 relief columns at forward locations in Bhuj, Jamnagar, Gandhidham as well as Naliya, Dwarka and Mandvi. The Air Force has kept one helicopter each ready in Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Delhi. The Navy has deployed 10-15 teams, each consisting of five divers and good swimmers, at Okha, Porbandar and Bakasur for rescue and relief.
- The IMD said that during the landfall of the cyclone, there is a possibility of inundation of low-lying areas of the affected districts due to storm surges about two-three meters high above the astronomical tide in the sea. According to the department, waves three to six meters high can rise in some places.
- IMD officials said that apart from Saurashtra-Kutch, other districts of Gujarat may also receive light rain accompanied by wind speed up to 40 kmph. Officials said that in view of the damage caused by the cyclone, the administration will ensure that Extensive preparations are being made to ensure that there is no disruption in the supply of electricity and water.
- About 67,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in the country’s southern Sindh province to safer places ahead of Cyclone Biparjoy’s landfall in the coastal areas of Pakistan on Thursday. Due to the impact of the cyclone, there is a possibility of heavy rains and floods in many cities and preparations are being made to deal with it. Army has been called in Pakistan for help.
- IMD Director General Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that due to the distance from Mumbai, the impact of Biparjoy will not be significant in Mumbai. Its effect will be more in Gujarat and Rajasthan. There may be heavy rains in Rajasthan on June 16-17 and the wind speed is expected to be 50-60 kmph.
- The Defense Ministry has said that all armed forces including Army, Navy, Air Force and Indian Coast Guard have made necessary preparations to provide assistance to the local people of Gujarat.
