On Saturday, Captain Ganesh Karnik, a former member of the Karnataka Legislative Council and a retired Indian Army officer, inaugurated the 80th Independence Day celebration at the K V Subbanna Bayalurangamandira in Moodubidire, under the aegis of the Alvas Education Foundation. As the chief guest, he hoisted the flag and addressed over 15,000 students, staff, parents, and dignitaries of the institution. Captain Karnik emphasized that freedom is not just the right to live as one pleases, but also encompasses a sense of duty and responsibility towards the country, the Constitution, society, and future generations.
He highlighted India’s struggle for independence, its achievements since then, national security, democracy, the Constitution, and the role of youth in nation-building. He also stressed the importance of unity in diversity and the need for the younger generation to promote harmony and social responsibility. Captain Karnik noted that India’s strength lies in its diversity and that the country has made significant progress in various fields, including space, IT, medicine, and renewable energy.
He urged the youth to become innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and responsible citizens, and to make a positive impact on society. He emphasized the importance of values such as honesty, respect for parents and teachers, environmental conservation, and cultural heritage preservation. Captain Karnik also paid tribute to the armed forces and security personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country’s security and sovereignty.
