Bengaluru, July 17: Rumors are rife in the political circles that the JD(S) party led by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda will join hands with the BJP. Amid these developments, former CM Basavaraj Bommai hinted at a BJP-JDS alliance in the Lok Sabha elections.
Bommai said on Monday that the BJP-JDS alliance will be decisive in the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.
Speaking to reporters at Vidhansouda, Bommai said that there is a possibility of a BJP-JDS alliance.
“This (BJP-JDS alliance) is very important. This is what people expect. If such an alliance takes place, it will play an important role in the Lok Sabha elections,’ said Bommai.
After Congress came to power in the state, BJP and JD(S) leaders are hinting for an alliance. However, speaking on Monday morning, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that his party has not received any invitation from ‘Mahaghatabandhan’ or ‘NDA’.
Mahaghatabandhan, an alliance of opposition parties. NDA is an alliance led by BJP.
Kumaraswamy had said that there is still time to take a decision on an alliance with the NDA.
Bommai protested that there was no ‘bandhan’ in the ‘Mahaghatabandhan’ meeting.
The sole aim of this meeting is to defeat Modi. The downtrodden remember the PM’s contribution to the nation and the opposition parties will not succeed. He has failed as an opposition. Bommayi argued that if zero is added to zero, the answer is zero, which is the state of this phasor.
The Congress-led ‘Mahaghatabandhan’ will meet in Bangalore today. It is holding a 2 day meeting. The NDA has called a meeting of its alliance parties in Delhi on July 18.
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said on Monday that JDS does not need a separate invitation.
“Parties opposing the Modi government can join us. There is no need to invite them (JDS) separately for the meeting,’ said Venugopal.
