Patna: An incident took place in Bihar where villagers killed a crocodile that had carried and killed a 14-year-old boy.

The incident took place in Raghopura, Vaishali district of Bihar, where a 14-year-old boy of class 5, Ankit Kumar, had taken a bath in the Ganga and went to get Ganga water in celebration of buying a new motorcycle. While the family was bathing in the river, the crocodile attacked Ankit, dragged him under the water, cut him to pieces and ate him alive.

Despite continuous hours of fighting and searching, the boy Ankit could not be found. Finally, the dead body of the boy was found by the family members. By that time, the villagers knew that this matter was like a wildfire, and the villagers who rushed to the scene dragged the crocodile out of the water and killed it collectively with sticks and rods.

The attack on the villagers was captured by a local on his mobile phone and this video has now gone viral.

Ankit’s grandfather, Sakaldeep Das, who described the horror, said, “We had bought a new motorcycle. We washed it and went to the river Ganga to worship it and bring Ganges water for worship. At this time, the crocodile dragged the grandson who was taking a bath. Despite repeated efforts, Ankit could not be saved. The crocodile was killed with the help of the villagers. She shed tears that such an incident should not happen to anyone in the future.

Amita Raj, DFO of Vaishali district, who spoke about this issue, said, ‘We have received information about the crocodile being killed. The reason is not yet known. Forest officials have reached the spot and are conducting an inspection. He said that action will be taken against those who violate the Wildlife Protection Act.
