Bangalore-Mysore Expressway: This place is extremely dangerous! 172 accidents have taken place here
Bangalore-Mysore Dashpath highway is turning into a road of accidents. There have been 132 fatal accidents on this highway since January. Since the official inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12, 100 accidents have occurred so far. These are the number of fatal accidents.
According to the report, more than 570 accidents have taken place on this highway so far in which 60 people have lost their lives, 52 people have been seriously injured and 279 people have suffered minor injuries. The police are also trying to reduce accidents and have requested to reduce the speed limit.
The National Highways Authority has also taken several measures to reduce accidents. There is no adequate system of road crossing for the villages coming under the highway, now a plan is being made to construct a skywalker to cross the road within the villages. It is also proposed to install speed radar guns on the roads.
Authorities are looking for ways to reduce accidents and fatalities, including deploying more patrol vehicles, increasing signage and equipping patrol officers with speed radar guns and other equipment.
More accidents in this place!
Channapatna-Mandya section has the highest number of accidents on Bangalore-Mysore highway. It is considered very dangerous and till June 30, 172 accidents have occurred in this part and 49 people have died. Although there is no specific reason for the increase in accidents on this stretch, riders who ply on this route need to be careful.
Alok Kumar said that there are problems on the highway
Alok Kumar, ADGP of Traffic and Road Safety, Karnataka, said that there are problems on the expressway which hamper the safety of road users. “There are some problems on the highway, there are not enough signboards. High speed highways like this expressway should have continuous signboards, but this road is not done,” DH reported.
Accidents are also caused by negligence on the part of road users. He explained that the user’s negligence towards the ups and downs of the roads is also the reason. However, compared to other highways in the country, the number of accidents on Bangalore-Mysore Expressway is less, said Alok Kumar.
Most of the accidents happened on the highway between Mumbai and Pune. Initially people were not much aware about the highways, but over time the number of accidents has reduced, he said.
To reduce accidents on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway, the state police is studying the safety measures taken on other expressways in the country. After looking at all the safety measures on this highway will be decided.
Penalty for speeding!
Deploying sectional speed detection systems on expressways is also being considered to automatically capture the speed of vehicles between two toll booths to enable the police to intercept violators at nearby toll plazas and take action.
Police have handheld radar speed guns that automatically capture speeding violations and issue challans. From Monday, the Ramanagar police have started using radar speed guns on the expressway that passes through the district.
