Social media influencer Andrey Khrzhanovskiy, widely known as Andrey X, has shared a harrowing account of an attack by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank's Umm al-Khair, located within the Masafer Yatta area. The incident, which unfolded overnight on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, reportedly saw Khrzhanovskiy and fellow activists assaulted after confronting settlers who had locked a gate, thereby trapping families from over 20 Palestinian communities inside their homes.
Khrzhanovskiy, in a video posted Sunday, November 1, 2026, stated that he and his companions were "nearly killed." He identified Tomer Liani as one of the alleged attackers, accusing him of stealing his phone, repeatedly punching him, and slamming his head against the ground until he lost consciousness. As this assault occurred, two other settlers, Nevo Nadalski and Shimon Atia, arrived carrying M16 rifles, allegedly preventing activist Jasper from assisting Khrzhanovskiy. Liani and another individual reportedly then assaulted Jasper, while Adele Shoko, another activist present, sustained a wrist injury.
Following the attack, Khrzhanovskiy alleged that Israeli army personnel and police actively prevented ambulances from reaching the scene and blocked Palestinian paramedics from treating him. He described being transferred, barely conscious, into a police vehicle after an Israeli ambulance drove only about 100 metres, instead of being taken to a hospital. Jasper, according to Khrzhanovskiy, was arrested after demanding that ambulances be allowed through.
Both activists were reportedly detained by Israeli police for over 24 hours, kept awake throughout the night. Jasper underwent seven hours of interrogation, while Khrzhanovskiy was questioned for three. Authorities subsequently barred Khrzhanovskiy from entering the occupied West Bank until the following year and confiscated Jasper's phone. Khrzhanovskiy confirmed his release two days prior to his video post, stating he had suffered a concussion and was exhausted from the ordeal.
Adele Shoko corroborated aspects of the incident in posts on X dated October 29, 2026, detailing how the activists were beaten, threatened with firearms, and had their phones and glasses stolen. Shoko also mentioned Jasper was pepper-sprayed and arrested, and that Khrzhanovskiy lost consciousness multiple times in front of Israeli police without receiving hospital care.
