Bantwal City Police have taken into custody Mohammed Naseer (29), a resident of Boliyar in Ullal taluk, following allegations of drug consumption and causing public disturbance near the Panemangalore Nehru Nagar underpass. The arrest occurred after an incident on the night of October 30, with medical tests on October 31 subsequently confirming the presence of Amphetamine in his system.

On Tuesday, October 30, around 9:15 PM, Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar Shetty and his team from the Bantwal City Police Station were conducting a routine patrol when they received intelligence. The tip-off indicated that two individuals were engaged in drug consumption and behaving inappropriately at the underpass. Upon the officers' swift arrival at the specified location, one suspect immediately fled the scene, evading capture.

Police successfully detained the other individual, who was identified as Mohammed Naseer. During initial questioning, Naseer reportedly confessed to consuming drugs. Authorities subsequently seized his personal mobile phone along with a mirror glass pipe from his possession, an item often associated with the consumption of illicit substances.

Further corroboration came from a medical examination conducted at the Bantwal Government Hospital. The urine test report, which became available on October 31, definitively confirmed the consumption of Amphetamine. Consequently, Bantwal City Police have registered a formal case against Naseer under Section 27(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985, which addresses the unlawful consumption of controlled substances.

Meanwhile, the individual who managed to escape from the site has been identified by authorities as Siddique, a resident of Nehru Nagar. Police sources indicate that efforts are actively underway to locate and apprehend him as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
