Mangalore, 28 October – The Vigilance Awareness Week for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) was launched on Monday, signalling the company's commitment to transparency, honesty and ethical governance across all its operations.

Executive Director (MD) Shyamprasad Kamath opened the ceremony, stressing that vigilance is a shared duty that must be pursued with justice, objectivity and impartiality. He recalled the cooperative model pioneered by Verghese Kurien and Tribhuvandas Patel through Amul, noting that fairness in the system nurtures honesty.

Kamath reminded the audience that the refinery, the public funds it handles and the contracts it awards are responsibilities entrusted to the nation. Chief Vigilance Officer Muhammad Ali Shihab A. added that integrity is the foundation of nation‑building and public confidence, warning that each rupee lost to accusation, inefficiency or corruption deprives the country of resources for schools, colleges, roads or hospitals.

Directors Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai (Refinery) and Devendra Kumar (Finance) also addressed the gathering. Executive Directors N. Anand Kumar, P. Sujith and Dr. Deepak Prabhakar read aloud messages from the President of India, the Prime Minister and the Central Vigilance Commission.

The vigilance pledge was administered in Kannada, Hindi and English by GGM Satyanarayana H.C., Suresh K. Rao and Rajeev H.S., respectively. CGM Manoj Kumar welcomed the participants, while Jayesh, Manager of the Vigilance Department, acted as the program’s compere.
