Sunita Mahadev Desangi, a 34-year-old nursing officer, was found deceased under suspicious circumstances at a government residential complex in Vogga, Kavala Paduru village, Bantwal, on the morning of October 23rd. Her husband, Sanjeev Kumar (36), faces allegations of murder, with a case now registered against him.

Police suspect the motive behind Sunita's alleged murder stems from frequent disputes with Sanjeev Kumar, a contract community health officer, over the distribution of her salary. Sunita, originally from Telsang village in Belagavi's Athani taluk, worked at the Haveri District Hospital.

The investigation by Bantwal Rural Police began after Sunita's brother, Arun Mahadev Desangi, filed a formal complaint. Arun recounted receiving a distress call from his sister on the night of October 22nd, where she complained about her husband's ongoing harassment and assault related to her earnings, urging him to come immediately.

The following morning, October 23rd, Sanjeev Kumar reportedly informed Arun that Sunita had fallen from her bed, lost consciousness, and was being taken to Bantwal Government Hospital. Upon Arun's arrival at the hospital with his mother, they learned Sunita had been brought in around 4:30 AM and was already declared deceased.

A subsequent examination of Sunita's body in the morgue revealed injuries and swelling on her forehead, neck, and head, along with blood observed from her nose and mouth. These findings have intensified suspicions that Sanjeev Kumar brutally assaulted and murdered his wife. Bantwal Rural Police have registered a case and continue their thorough investigation into the matter.
