Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to initiate a fair and comprehensive investigation into the death of former BJP MLA Attar Singh Bhedana. Bhedana was allegedly lynched by a mob in Bharatpur district on Monday following a dispute over the reopening of a crusher plant. Amid escalating demands for accountability, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) president and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal has called for the immediate removal of both the Bharatpur Range Inspector General (IG) and the district Superintendent of Police (SP).

Chief Minister Sharma directly contacted the DGP on Monday to gather case specifics and evaluate the situation. Sources indicate he also conferred with Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham, directing him to closely monitor ongoing developments. The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of a thorough inquiry to establish facts and ensure appropriate action.

Beniwal voiced significant apprehension regarding the state's law-and-order situation and the efficacy of the police administration in connection with Bhedana's demise. The RLP chief reiterated his demand for the prompt dismissal of the Bharatpur Range IG and district SP, asserting that an impartial investigation hinges on their removal. Beniwal also highlighted unverified allegations from local residents that Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham's alleged instigation preceded the assault on Bhedana. These claims await formal investigation.

Meanwhile, Bhonda village remains under heavy police deployment, with reports indicating a palpable atmosphere of tension and silence since the incident. A medical board conducted Bhedana's post-mortem examination at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital mortuary in Jaipur on Monday. Subsequently, his family transported the body to Pali village in Haryana's Faridabad district. The family has requested a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

Bhedana's wife, Kamlesh Bhadana, has filed a murder complaint against approximately 80 individuals, explicitly naming several alleged assailants. Her complaint states she attempted to shield her husband during the attack but was pushed aside and assaulted, sustaining injuries herself. The complaint also references a prior incident on September 25, when a group allegedly entered the stone crusher unit, assaulted employees, vandalized the facility, and fled. A complaint regarding that event was lodged at Weir police station on September 27. These allegations and the circumstances surrounding Bhedana's death will form a key part of the ongoing investigation.

Attar Singh Bhedana is survived by a son, Arjun Singh Bhedana, who practices law at the Supreme Court, and four daughters, including Kiran Bhedana, a 2017 batch IAS officer. His death has triggered widespread grief across Bharatpur and in political, administrative, and legal circles.
