On Monday, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal Mangalore Rural District unit assembled near the Rakteshwari Sannidhi on B.C. Road in Bantwal to protest the continued detention of Hindutva activists under the Goonda Act, despite the court granting them bail.
The gathering was addressed by Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupura Vajradehi Math. He emphasized that the coastal belt remains a pivotal centre of Hindu Dharma and warned against using “unnecessary laws” to curb a community that is increasingly organising itself. Swamiji called for the police to disclose the forces behind the notice issued to Kalladka Prabakar Bhat, adding that officials must act in a manner that does not give the impression they are serving any particular interest.
Satish Davangere, Provincial Co-convener of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, echoed the sentiment, stating that the notice to Kalladka Prabakar Bhat – a worker he described as contributing to the construction of a strong India – was unjustified. He urged authorities to operate strictly within the legal framework, free from the influence of any political party. He warned that
