On Saturday, the Shakti Research and Training Centre at Shakti Vidya Samsthe, Shakti Nagar, Mangaluru, opened its doors after a joint effort with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s corporate social responsibility programme. The ceremony featured Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta, who officially inaugurated the new building and expressed hope that the centre will become a catalyst for implementing the state’s education policies.
K.C. Nayak, president of Shakti Samsthe, presided over the event and highlighted HPCL’s role as one of India’s largest organisations, noting the substantial contribution that enabled the centre’s development. H.R. K.S. Shetty, director of HPCL, lit a ceremonial lamp to mark the opening of a dedicated room within the facility.
Anupam Tiwari, chief general manager of HPCL CSR, unveiled a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory equipped with roughly one hundred computers, aimed at enhancing digital learning for students. D. Vedavyas Kamath, MLA of Mangaluru City South, attended as chief guest and extended his best wishes to the institution.
Other dignitaries present included Saguna C. Nayak, trustee of Shakti Vidya Samsthe; Ramesh K., chief advisor; and Pradeep Kumar Shetty, principal of Shakti Pre‑University College. Sanjeeth Naik, secretary of the institution, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks, while teacher Chethana managed the program flow and offered the vote of thanks.
The inauguration underscores a collaborative model where corporate CSR initiatives support educational infrastructure, promising to strengthen skill development and research opportunities for youth in coastal Karnataka.
