In a district‑level wrestling meet organized by the South Karnataka School Education Department (Pre‑University) and St. Aloysius Pre‑University College, Alva's College emerged as the overall champion in both boys and girls categories. The competition was staged at the joint campus of the two institutions in Mangalore, drawing participants from across the district.
Alva's boys team collected a total of nine medals – four gold, two silver and three bronze – clinching first place in the male division. The girls squad added ten medals to the tally, comprising five gold, four silver and one bronze, securing the top spot among female contenders.
Gold‑medal performances in the boys bracket included Prathviraj (57 kg), Pranav (70 kg), Rajat Basu (74 kg), and Ritwik (86 kg). Silver medals went to Aakash (61 kg) and Anoop (65 kg), while bronze honours were earned by Rohit S (weight unspecified), Muhammad Shaham Shabeer (92 kg) and Karthik (97+ kg).
The girls’ division saw Gangamma dominate the 55 kg class, Deepti triumph in the 59 kg category, Tejaswini at 62 kg, Spurti at 65 kg and NavyaShree at 76 kg, each securing gold. Silver medals were awarded to Tanushree (50 kg), Sinchana (53 kg), Chaitra (68 kg) and Tripa (72 kg). Charvi (57 kg) captured the lone bronze for the females.
Dr. M Mohan Alva, president of Alva's College, personally congratulated the medal‑winning athletes, praising their dedication and the disciplined preparation that led to the double victory.
