The situation at Kakkera has further deteriorated with one of the two permanent teachers currently on childcare leave, forcing the school administration to lean heavily on guest teachers. Parents in Kakkera voice significant apprehension, alleging that inconsistent teaching affects student progress and has even prompted some families to relocate their children to other schools in search of more stable learning environments.
The challenges at Kakkera mirror a broader crisis gripping government schools throughout Yadgir district. Official figures from the education department reveal a substantial gap in staffing. Out of 5,585 sanctioned posts for primary school teachers across the district, only 2,556 are currently filled. The situation in high schools is equally concerning, with 736 vacancies remaining from 1,548 sanctioned positions, leaving just 812 filled.
Channabasappa Mudhol, Deputy Director of the Yadgir Public Education Department, acknowledged the district's teacher shortage, stating that guest teachers are being appointed to ensure continued school operations. However, parents insist that relying on temporary staff is an insufficient long-term solution. They have appealed to the education department for the immediate appointment of permanent, subject-wise teachers at Kakkera school and a comprehensive effort to fill all vacant teaching posts across Yadgir district, emphasizing its necessity for quality primary education and retaining students in government institutions.
