Kota witnessed the official launch of the Brahmavar taluk level Kabaddi tournament for boys and girls aged 14 to 17 on Thursday, held on the grounds of Karnataka Public School (KPS) Manur Padukare.
State Amateur Kabaddi Association Udupi District President Rajendra Suvarna urged participants to draw inspiration from Mamata Pujari's rise to the international arena, emphasizing that sustained training and disciplined practice are essential for success.
During the ceremony, Divya Lakshmi Prashant Kunder, Director of the Kota Manur Geetananda Foundation, lit the ceremonial lamp and extended her best wishes to the young athletes. Rajendra Suvarna, after foregoing the traditional start with a sporting dove, personally shook hands with each competitor, reinforcing his message of dedication.
The event was presided over by KPS Padukare School SDMC President Nagaraj. Dignitaries in attendance included District Physical Inspector Nithyananda Shetty, Karnataka State Physical Education Association District President Vijaya Kumar Shetty, Government Degree College Padukare Principal Denis Banzhi, Vahini Yuvaka Mandal President Ramesh H. Kunder, Taluk President Srikanth Sawant, Grade 2 Taluk President of District Physical Teachers Association, Grade 1 Taluk President Chandrasekhar Shetty, State Physical Teachers Association Vice President Rajaram Shetty, Taluk President of Physical Teachers Association Raviraj Shetty, Primary School SDMC President Vinay Kumar, Primary Head Teacher Vijaya, and secondary school head teacher Vivekananda Gaonkar who welcomed the gathering. The program narration was delivered by Chitrapadi School Physical Education Teacher Satishchandra Shetty.
Organisers expressed confidence that the tournament will uncover hidden talent across the taluk and provide a platform for disciplined athletes to compete at higher levels.
