Kodi witnessed a significant community event on Thursday, September 4, as Kodi Bearys First Grade College and Bearys College of Education, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Kundapura, launched their annual activities with a blood donation camp at Beehive Convention Hall. Jayakar Shetty, President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Kundapura, inaugurated the programme, emphasizing that blood donation extends beyond mere social service; it represents a vital humanitarian act capable of saving lives. Shetty urged young individuals to actively engage in community-oriented service activities, highlighting the crucial role of the Youth Red Cross unit in fostering a service mindset, social responsibility, and humanitarian values among students.
Prior to the inauguration, Asif Beary, a member of the Board of Trustees for Bearys Group of Educational Institutions, spoke, advocating for a societal contribution mindset rather than solely self-interest. He underscored how donated blood, even without knowing its recipient, can profoundly impact someone's life. Beary expressed hope that this excellent deed, akin to divine work, would further cultivate a spirit of service across the campus. K.M. Abdul Rahman Beary, President of Bearys Group of Educational Institutions, reinforced this message, stating that saving a life through blood donation constitutes the most important initial step in serving the nation.
Satyanarayana Puranik, Youth Red Cross Coordinator of Kundapura, administered the oath to the participating students. Both students and members of the public enthusiastically contributed to the blood donation camp held as part of the day's events.
The gathering saw the presence of Ashwini Shetty, Director of Bearys Group of Educational Institutions; Dr. Firdous, Principal of Bearys College of Education; and Shabina Hamza, Principal of Bearys First Grade College, alongside vice-principals, teaching and non-teaching staff, and Youth Red Cross student coordinators. Ahmed Khaleel, Staff Coordinator of the Youth Red Cross unit, along with student coordinators Wahab and Hamdan, meticulously organized the program. Sahara, Lecturer in the Computer Science Department, compered the proceedings, while Ashida Bhanu, Lecturer in the Commerce Department, delivered the vote of thanks.
