Mangaluru, 5 September 2026 – The Deputy Director (Administration) of the Dakshina Kannada District School Education Department announced the recipients of the district‑level Best Teacher Award today, aligning the ceremony with the national Teachers’ Day celebrations. A total of twenty‑one teachers earned the distinction, reflecting the department's commitment to recognise excellence across the region.
Seven educators from junior primary schools formed the first group of awardees, each praised for innovative classroom methods that cater to early learners. Their peers highlighted the use of local language resources and hands‑on activities that boost literacy and numeracy among children aged three to eight.
The second set comprises seven senior primary teachers, recognised for sustaining high academic standards while nurturing critical thinking. Several nominees introduced project‑based learning modules that integrate coastal ecology, linking students' everyday surroundings with the curriculum.
Completing the list, seven high‑school teachers received the honour for outstanding contributions to subject mastery and career guidance. Their initiatives include mentorship programmes that connect students with local industries such as fisheries and tourism, preparing youths for employment opportunities along the coast. The awards, presented in a modest ceremony at the district education office, underscore the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the future of Dakshina Kannada.
