On Thursday, August 27, 2026, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) officially launched the Riyadh Digital District, a new hub designed to lure international technology companies, skilled professionals and investment to Saudi Arabia’s capital.
The initiative is a cornerstone of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to position Riyadh among the world’s top ten technology districts. It concentrates on six priority sectors: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, computing and cloud services, the Internet of Things, blockchain technologies, and robotics and unmanned aerial systems.
According to RCRC, these sectors command a large share of global tech investment and will shape future economic growth. By creating an integrated digital business ecosystem, the district will bring together multinational firms, start‑ups, entrepreneurs, specialised talent and investors under one regulatory and technical framework.
Companies setting up in the district will gain access to dedicated workspaces located near leading technology firms and innovation communities. They will also have opportunities to collaborate with government agencies and private‑sector partners, using Riyadh as a launchpad for expansion across the Middle East and North Africa.
Regular meetings, open events and networking sessions are planned to connect founders, engineers, researchers and investors, fostering a vibrant technology community. The programme also seeks to boost digital skills, attract further investment and create sustainable jobs by helping firms build local technology teams.
Minister of State and RCRC Chief Executive Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al‑Sultan highlighted that the district will reinforce Riyadh’s status as a global destination for tech talent and digital entrepreneurship. He thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCRC, for their continued support.
Al‑Sultan said the launch reflects the leadership’s commitment to advancing Riyadh toward a leading global position in emerging and future sectors, while supporting Vision 2030’s goal of a diversified, prosperous economy driven by digital leadership and innovation.
