Mangaluru, August 25: City police have arrested seven individuals on charges of drug consumption following a series of coordinated operations across the commissionerate limits today. Officers from Barke, Kavoor, Kadri, Bunder, Pandeshwar, and Urwa police stations executed separate arrests throughout the day.

Barke police apprehended Deepak Shet, 37, a resident of Alake, near Urwa Market. He was reportedly under the influence of drugs at the time of his detention. In another incident, Kavoor police took Rahul Donald Monteiro, 31, from Kavoor, into custody for suspicious behavior observed near Kuntikana Junction.

Kadri police summoned Abhay T.K., 25, a Kasaragod native employed at a private hotel in the city, for questioning. A subsequent drug consumption test confirmed his involvement, leading to his arrest. Meanwhile, Bunder police arrested Tilak, 27, from Kankanady Kudkori Gudde, after observing him staggering near Kudroli Green Park.

Pandeshwar police brought Zeeshan Nawaz, 34, a resident of Emmekere, in for questioning in connection with an existing case. His demeanor raised suspicion, prompting a medical examination that confirmed drug use, resulting in his arrest. Finally, Urwa police detained Harsha, 31, from Mathada Kaniya, and Shreyas B. Kamath, 21, from Kadri. They were found smoking cigarettes mixed with illicit substances near Ashok Nagar.

Cases have been registered against all seven accused under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
