Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, emphasized the organization’s commitment to safeguarding Muslims’ personal laws in India. Speaking at an event in Mangaluru on Wednesday, he clarified that the Board’s purpose is to protect the rights of all individuals, including women, and ensure they receive justice. The event, which aimed to raise awareness about constitutional rights among Muslims, featured discussions by prominent Board members, including Maulana Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi and Maulana Ilyas Nadwi. They provided insights into the Board’s activities and the history of the Personal Law Board. Local leaders, such as K. Ashraf, Vice President of the Muslim Central Committee, also participated, requesting representation for Mangaluru in the Board. The event was attended by Hanif Haji, General Secretary of the Muslim Central Committee, and moderated by Maulana Farhan Nadwi. Maulana Salim Nadwi, Principal of Iqra Arabic School, welcomed the gathering. The Board’s efforts come amid attempts to create misconceptions about Muslims and their personal laws. Rahmani reiterated that living according to one’s religious beliefs is a fundamental right granted by the Constitution, and the Board is dedicated to protecting this right.
