On August 7, Udupi District Collector T. K. Swarup directed officials to ensure a grand and meaningful celebration of the district-level Independence Day program at Ajjarkadu Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium. The event is scheduled to take place on August 15. During the preliminary meeting held at the Collectorate Hall of Manipal Rajatadri, Collector Swarup outlined the program’s details, including a flag-hoisting ceremony at 9 am, a guard of honor, and an Independence Day message delivery by the minister.
The celebration will feature a procession by various teams, including Police, Anti-Naxal Force, Coast Guard Police, Fire Brigade, Forestry, Home Guard, NCC, and Scouts and Guides. Students from schools and colleges will perform cultural programs focusing on cleanliness, environmental protection, health, and tourism. The event will also honor dignitaries from various departments and distribute privileges to beneficiaries.
Collector Swarup emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness at the venue and instructed health department officials to arrange for necessary precautions, including an ambulance for emergency health services. To ensure the program’s success, various sub-committees were formed, and responsibilities were assigned to concerned department officers. The meeting was attended by Paurayukta Mahantesh Hangaragi, DHO Dr. Basavaraj Hubli, Correspondent Manjunath B, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ram Rao, and other district-level officials.
