On August 4, residents of Gaza City gathered to pay their respects to 112 Palestinians from the Hassayna and Abu Sharia clan, whose bodies were recovered after nearly three years under the rubble in the Sabra neighbourhood. The mass funeral was held for the victims, who were among more than 300 people killed on November 22, 2023, when Israeli warplanes bombed a residential block. First responders worked tirelessly for 136 hours to recover the bodies, according to the Civil Defence. The bodies of 40 children, 30 women, and seven people with disabilities were among those recovered. The Gaza war, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of 73,375 people, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The funeral was a sombre occasion, with families and friends gathering to pray and mourn their loved ones. Many others are still believed to be lying beneath the rubble, with some reduced to ashes due to the force of the explosions.
