On the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2026, a grand event was held at the UDST Cricket Ground in Doha, organised by the Embassy of India in Qatar in association with various community bodies. The event, which took place under the global theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, drew a large crowd of yoga enthusiasts from diverse expatriate communities. His Excellency Mr. Vipul, Ambassador of India to Qatar, was the chief guest, and the event was also attended by prominent diplomats and Qatari dignitaries, including His Excellency Mr. Hammoudi Al-Sheikh, Ambassador of the Central African Republic to Qatar, and Mr. Khalid Abdul Rahman Al Fakroo, Advisor at the Ministry of Labour.

The successful execution of the event was made possible by the guidance and dedication of senior diplomatic and administrative officials, including Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Mr. Harish Pandey, First Secretary (Education & Culture) at the Embassy of India. Karnataka Sangha Qatar, led by President Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, recorded the highest participation among socio-cultural organisations, with its members actively participating in the mass yoga session. The association’s impressive turnout earned special recognition from the Ambassador of India to Qatar, who commended Karnataka Sangha Qatar for its enthusiastic participation and efforts in promoting health and community unity.

A cultural yoga dance performance, presented by Karnataka Sangha Qatar, added a unique artistic dimension to the event, featuring outstanding performances by Ashwini C. B., Niveda C. B., and Amir Zahraoui. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting longevity, vitality, and well-being, and was a testament to the strong bilateral and global implications of the celebration.
