On the 18th day of his indefinite hunger strike, activist Sonam Wangchuk has made it clear that he will not end his fast without a response from the government. In a video message, Wangchuk stated that breaking the fast now would send the wrong message, implying that there is no need for accountability. He questioned what would change if he ended the fast, emphasizing that his hunger strike is a call for action.

Wangchuk has received thousands of messages and visits from senior politicians, all asking him to break his fast. Some have even approached the court to intervene. However, Wangchuk remains resolute, citing medical examinations that show no immediate danger to his health. He acknowledged weakness and muscle loss but assured that his heart and core are still fine.

Instead of appealing to him to end the fast, Wangchuk urged supporters to participate in large numbers in the Cockroach Janta Party’s proposed Parliament march on July 20. He called on schools, colleges, and universities to observe July 20 as a day of experiential education under the National Education Policy, allowing students to witness and participate in a real lesson in political science and democracy.

The Cockroach Janta Party has been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. Wangchuk asked people to register for the march through the campaign’s website or missed call initiative, saying, "Come in thousands on July 20. Together, we will hand over this issue to the Parliament. Then I will believe that it has gone into the right hands."
