On Saturday evening, June 11, in Udupi, Mohan Bhaskara Hegde, Director of Bharatiya Vikasa Trust, Manipal, attended the Yakshagana Kalaranga Award presentation ceremony as the chief guest. He emphasized that art and heritage should not be used for selfish purposes, but rather accepted and cherished as a collective legacy. The event, held at the IYC hall of Yakshagana Kalaranga, honored three senior Talamaddale Arthadharis. Hegde commended Yakshagana Kalaranga for its efforts in promoting the welfare of artists, particularly in preserving the two varieties of Coastal Yakshagana, Tenku-Badagu. The awardees included Sulyada Venkatarama Bhatt, who received the D.B. Venkatasubba Jois Award, Uttara Kannada District Honnavara Dr. G.K. Hegde, who was honored with the Mattu Muralidhara Rao Award, and Kote Rama Bhat of Karkala, who received the Perla Krishna Bhat Award. The program was presided over by Bangalore Human Rights Commission Member Dr. T. Shyam Bhat, with senior scholar Dr. Taltaje Vasantakumar offering congratulations. Krishnaprasad Adyanthaya, a senior socialite of Kumbhashi, was also present. Prior to the ceremony, a Talamaddale performance, 'Sriranga Tulabhara', was held, featuring renowned artistes such as Kavyashree Ajeru, Krishnaprakash Ulitthaya, and Chandra Shekhara Acharya.
