On June 4, the Karnataka Sangha Qatar, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Qatar and Qatari authorities, organized a tree-planting event at the Old Airport Park in Doha. This initiative, which began at 7:30 AM, brought together diplomatic figures, municipal leaders, and members of the Indian expatriate community to observe World Environment Day. The event was attended by His Excellency Mr. Vipul, Ambassador of India to Qatar, and Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy, as well as Qatari officials including Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed and Sheikh Suhaim Al Thani. Ambassador Vipul emphasized the importance of nurturing urban greenery, stating that it is a shared global responsibility that benefits both the environment and international relations. The event featured the symbolic planting of native saplings by the diplomatic delegation and municipal officials, followed by the planting of additional trees by corporate volunteers and community members. Karnataka Sangha Qatar President, Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, led the efforts, which resulted in a significant contribution to the reforestation of the park. The event demonstrated the power of community engagement in promoting sustainable urban development and highlighted the strong friendship between India and Qatar. With the support of local authorities, the Karnataka Sangha Qatar successfully executed this environmental initiative, which will have a lasting impact on the community.
