On Wednesday, Rotary Club Mangaluru Central President Bhaskar Rai Katta announced that the club has received the prestigious 'Diamond Plus' Excellence Award at a press conference held at the city's Press Bhavan in Mangaluru. This comprehensive award, given by Rotary International District 3181, recognizes the club's numerous public service programs in various fields. The award ceremony was recently held in Mysuru.
The 'Diamond Plus' award acknowledges the club's outstanding work in community-oriented service, membership development, nature, environment, health, education, and other areas during the 2025-26 year. Notably, this is the first time Rotary Club Mangaluru Central has received the Diamond Plus award in its 40-year history, a testament to the club's commitment to service and community welfare activities.
Rotary Club Mangaluru Central has also won several other awards, including the Bulletin Excellence Award for its in-house newsletter 'Centaur', the Reach Excellence Award for registering the highest number of members, and the Highest Project Award for successfully managing the most projects. Additionally, the club received a special award for providing financial assistance to the Pulse Polio vaccination program.
Several dignitaries were present at the press conference, including Rotaract South Asia President Daryl Steven D'Souza, who was honored with a special award for hosting award ceremonies and induction programs for Rotaract organizations in 45 districts across eight countries. Other attendees included Rotary Club Mangaluru Central Secretary Vikas Kotian, former Governor Dr. Devadas Rai, and President-elect Ravindra B.N.
