On March 31, 2026, the total banking business in Dakshina Kannada district reached 1,45,470.30 crores, with a 9.29% annual growth rate. This information was provided by lead bank officials at the Dakshina Kannada District Banks Progress Review Meeting held at the Netravati auditorium of the Dakshina Kannada District Panchayat on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by Narvade Vinayak Karbari, Chief Executive Officer of the Dakshina Kannada District Panchayat. Currently, there are 673 bank branches operating in the district. The total deposit collection in the district’s banks has reached 85,873.50 crores, with a 12.48% growth rate. The total loan disbursement has reached 59,596.80 crores, with a 7.19% annual growth rate.
The credit-deposit ratio in the district is 69.40% at the end of the year, which is a 4.71% decrease compared to the previous financial year’s 72.83%. As of March 2026, the district has disbursed a total of 49,231.36 crores in loans to priority and non-priority sectors, achieving 76.32% of the target of 64,506.99 crores. The agricultural sector has received 13,337.14 crores in loans, exceeding the target of 14,798.67 crores by 110.90%. The small and medium-scale industries have received 18,605.61 crores in loans, achieving 100.43% of the target of 7,863.86 crores.
The education sector has received 188.25 crores in loans, which is 85.97% of the target of 218.96 crores. The housing sector has received 535.12 crores in loans, which is 79.73% of the target of 671.13 crores. The priority sector has received a total of 26,272.19 crores in loans, exceeding the target of 23,170.82 crores by 113.38%.
The district has also made significant progress in implementing various social security schemes of the Prime Minister. Under the Mudra scheme, 45,825 loan accounts have been sanctioned, with a total of 820.91 crores in loans disbursed. The Jan Dhan scheme has opened 37,428 new savings accounts. The Jeevan Jyoti insurance scheme has covered 57,074 beneficiaries, while the Suraksha Bima scheme has registered a record 1,27,830 accounts. The Atal Pension scheme has opened 34,509 new pension accounts.
The PM SVANidhi scheme for street vendors has sanctioned loans to 13,451 people in the first phase, 6,754 in the second phase, and 2,380 in the third phase, as of March 31, 2026, according to the Dakshina Kannada District Lead Bank report.
