Kundapura: Dr. Diksha Shenai, a noted physician, inaugurated the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Sujnana Educational Trust by lighting a lamp, urging students to embrace yoga for physical and mental equilibrium in today's stressful world. The event, held under the theme "Today's Yoga Practice, Tomorrow's Bright Future," was jointly hosted by Vidyarnaya English Medium School, Vidyarnaya Global School, and Sujnana Pre-University College in Kundapura.
Dr. Shenai emphasized yoga's role in holistic personality development and improving concentration among students. Hundreds of students from the trust participated enthusiastically, demonstrating various asanas and pranayama with discipline. Their performances conveyed a strong message of health, harmony, and peace.
Dr. Ramesh Shetty, president of Sujnana Educational Trust, highlighted that yoga sharpens both mind and body. "Regular practice enhances focus, confidence, and overall performance," he said. He also explained why June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day: "It is the longest day of the year, symbolizing balance between nature and humans. We must adopt the mantra 'Do Yoga, Stay Healthy' in our lives."
A major highlight of the programme was a stunning yoga display by Lasya Madyastha, a Class 10 student and national-level yoga athlete. The trust honored her for this rare achievement. Sanskrit teacher Rajat Bhat compered the event.
Dignitaries on stage included treasurer Bharat Shetty, principals Pradeep (Vidyarnaya English Medium School) and Anita Kumari (Vidyarnaya Global School), vice principal Spoorthi A., and secretary Pratap Chandra Shetty, who extended his best wishes.
