On June 17, a tragic accident occurred on the set of Love & War in Mumbai, resulting in the death of 42-year-old technician Chandradhari Singh Yadav. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) is now seeking ₹50 lakh in compensation for Yadav’s family, exceeding the initial ₹40 lakh provided by the production house. FWICE president B.N. Tiwari emphasized that Yadav was the sole breadwinner for his family and had significant responsibilities. Tiwari stated that the federation is requesting the production team to increase the compensation to ₹50 lakh to provide better financial support to the family.

Yadav, a carpenter on the set, died due to an electrical mishap, and several other workers were injured. While FWICE is currently focusing on securing the additional compensation, the federation also expressed concerns about the prevalent long working hours in the industry. Tiwari noted that workers and technicians are often forced to work 16 to 20 hours a day, exceeding the official 12-hour limit. The federation plans to strengthen its checks on health and safety standards to prevent similar incidents in the future.

FWICE has chosen not to file any FIRs against producers, instead opting for discussions to resolve issues related to compensation and safety. Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) is demanding mandatory safety inspections on all sets in Maharashtra and calling for a high-level investigation into Yadav’s death. The accident has brought attention to worker safety, forced overtime, and accountability in the film industry, with FWICE pushing for improved working conditions and compensation for workers.
