Opposition meeting to be held in Patna to discuss issues plaguing the country: Sharad Pawar

Pune: NCP chief Sharad Pawar said on Friday that various important issues troubling the country, including the current situation in violence-hit Manipur, will be discussed at the meeting of opposition parties to be held in Patna.

Top leaders of opposition parties will hold a meeting in Bihar’s capital Patna on Friday to chalk out a roadmap for building an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting was organized by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (JDU) and his deputy Tejaswi Yadav (RJD).

Apart from Pawar, Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (TMC), Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann (AAP), Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin (DMK), Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Maharashtra’s Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena-UBT) has decided to attend the meeting.

Speaking to reporters in Pune before leaving for Patna, Pawar said, “We will discuss some of the major issues facing the country, including the situation in Manipur.” Incidents are happening where people are taking to the streets and disrupting law and order. He said that such incidents are happening especially in non-BJP states.

It is clear who is behind this and it is not good for the country. The focus of the meeting is to discuss these issues and plan for the future. Leaders of other states can express their concerns, he said.
