MP Kota Srinivasa Pujari Lauds Red Cross for Life-Saving Blood Donation Efforts at Kundapur Event

Kundapur: Blood donation ranks among the most critical life-saving activities, and the Kundapur unit of the Indian Red Cross Society deserves praise for its role in this vital work. Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha MP Kota Srinivasa Pujari made these remarks on Saturday while inaugurating Blood Donor Day – 2026 at Bhandarkars College. The event was jointly organized by the Indian Red Cross Society and the college.

Speaking to a gathering of students, faculty, and Red Cross volunteers, Pujari described blood donation as a profoundly sincere act that directly saves lives. He highlighted the Red Cross organization’s consistent service during wars and natural calamities, providing essential blood supplies and health services. The organization, he noted, works globally to foster peace, tranquility, love, and humanity. He expressed hope that greater awareness would boost the number of blood donors across the region.

The program was presided over by Kundapur Red Cross Chairman S. Jayakara Shetty. Among those present were Treasurer Shivaram Shetty, Bhandarkar’s Graduate College Principal Dr. Shubkarachari, Student Welfare Officer Satyanarayana, and Pre-Graduation College Principal Dr. Saroj M.

During the ceremony, principals and lecturers from various degree colleges in Udupi district who organized blood donation camps were recognized and honored. Long-time donors were also felicitated. Sudharshan Barekatte, who has donated blood 75 times, shared his impressions on behalf of donors, while Government First Class College, Tenkanidiyur was acknowledged for its college’s participation. Officers from the Indian Red Cross Kundapur unit attended the event. Secretary Satyanarayan Puranik delivered the welcome address, first aid trainer Dr. Sonny DeCosta hosted the proceedings, and Treasurer Shivaram Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
