The Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will be setting up its third plant in Haryana for its estimated ₹ 18,000 crore proposed new car manufacturing project.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Tuesday said that this is a huge achievement for the state as Maruti is setting up its third plant in Haryana. He said that MSIL has purchased an additional 800 acres at IMT Kharkhoda land for its proposed new car manufacturing facility. The total project cost is estimated at ₹ 18,000 crore. It has 11,000 skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled persons for potential employment. Along with MSIL, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has also acquired a 100-acre land parcel for two-wheelers, including an integrated manufacturing facility. Notably, after setting up its first car plant in Gurugram in 1983, Maruti has steadily expanded its manufacturing footprint in Haryana by setting up a manufacturing facility at Manesar and a state-of-the-art R&D center at Rohtak. The two plants in Haryana – Gurugram and Manesar, together with 15.5 lakh units annually, according to an official statement.
