On Monday, the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management in Surathkal hosted the Deeksharambha program, marking the beginning of the 2026–27 academic year. The event, held at the Y.M.K. Auditorium in the Yenepoya Campus, Kulur, was attended by prominent guests, including Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, who served as the chief guest. Reddy emphasized the importance of utilizing the freedom of college life positively, advising students to avoid drug addiction and focus on education and personality development. He encouraged students to set clear goals and work towards achieving them with determination. M.S. Neha Soni, Industry Solution Manager and trainer for South India, also addressed the students, highlighting the rapid growth of the aviation sector in India and the opportunities it presents. Dr. K.S. Gangadhara Somayaji, Vice-Chancellor of Yenepoya Deemed to be University, presided over the program, urging students to use their freedom responsibly and engage in extracurricular activities. Prof. Jeevanraj, Principal of Yenepoya Deemed to be University, welcomed the new batch of students, marking the institution’s 10th batch, and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities available. The guests also unveiled the logo of the institution’s Aviation Department during the ceremony, which was attended by other notable faculty members, including Prof. Shareena P., Prof. Narayan Sukumar A., and M.S. Srijana Shetty.
