A 28‑year‑old woman was brutally killed by her father‑in‑law and two brothers‑in‑law in Chinthal Thanda, Koilkonda mandal, Mahabubnagar district on November 2, police said on November 4.

The accused reportedly tied a cloth around the victim's neck, dragged her into their house and attacked her with a knife before beheading her. The motive, investigators claim, was a dispute over 1.5 acres of land that legally belonged to her husband but had been transferred to her name, a move opposed by the father‑in‑law and other family members.

The woman had been married to a relative twelve years earlier and was mother to two children. Police disclosed that the couple had been quarrelling over the husband's mental health issues; for the past year the husband stayed in Hyderabad while the woman lived in a separate house in Chinthal Thanda.

On the day of the murder, an argument erupted between the woman and her father‑in‑law and his brothers over the property. While the husband was in Hyderabad, the woman was pulled into the family house and killed, according to the police report.

After the incident, the victim's father filed a complaint accusing the father‑in‑law and brothers‑in‑law of murder. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against five individuals. All accused are currently absconding and the investigation remains ongoing.
