Bengaluru, June 27: CM Siddaramaiah has hit back after BS Yeddyurappa on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a protest against the Congress government.

BS Yediyurappa have you fulfilled the promises made in the BJP manifesto? What moral right do you have to protest? Congress has implemented all the promises made in 2013. We have taken action to fulfill the 5 election guarantees given for this election. Whatever BS Yeddyurappa has done is a political gimmick, he said.

Former CM Yeddyurappa had said that he would stage a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue at Vidhansouda from July 4 to demand the implementation of the election promises made by the Congress government in the state. The legislative session is scheduled from July 3 to 14, and the new government will also present a new budget.

“People believed in their (Congress) guarantee card in the Karnataka elections, now they have been cheated, as a result we (BJP) could not win more than 100 seats. This government’s anti-farmer, anti-people policies and failure to implement five guarantees in 24 hours as promised. We will protest inside and outside,” Yeddyurappa said.

Yeddyurappa said at the party meeting that the government has so far implemented only one guarantee of free travel for women in public transport buses. A lot of conditions have been imposed for this too. This is an insult to women. He said that the Congress government, which has betrayed the people, should be taught a proper lesson by organizing protests or agitations at every level.

All the five promises earlier promised by the Karnataka CM in his Congress manifesto on June 5 will be implemented in the current financial year. He said that approximately 50,000 crore rupees will be required every year for this. On May 20, Siddaramaiah was sworn in as Chief Minister along with DK Shivakumar who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister.

In the May 10 election to the 224-member Karnataka assembly, the Congress won 135 seats, ousting the ruling BJP, which had secured 66 seats from the lone southern state.
